28 Sep 2008Online gambling is a major force that exists whether it is outlawed or not. It is believed to present the potential danger if it is not regulated. It is the result to which the University of Nevada in Las Vegas and the University of Western Ontario in Canada came in the course of their study.
If not regulated, online gambling is sure to become the part of consumer’s life. Gambling on the Internet is much more dangerous than the casino gambling due to the fact that in a casino, a gambler must go and stay at the casino, while nothing of that kind is required if you want to play on the Internet.
Ten casino gamblers and twenty online casino gamblers were interviewed. Besides, there were shown pictures to get reactions on how they made them feel. When the study was over, they got recommendations on how to cope with problem of online gambling.
The study suggested Canadian government sponsors to get into the market and regulate the industry, while in the USA the people regulating Las Vegas should the same in the online gambling market.
Cooling off period (when gamblers cannot continually deposit money into their online accounts) and proper age identification checks have also been called as potential regulations.
